The 8" Inflatable Pipe Double Purge Bag System from 8-PPM PURGING is an advanced solution designed for efficient and reliable weld purging. This system utilizes two inflatable dams, connected by an armoured spinal tube, to create a secure seal on either side of the weld joint. These dams are strategically positioned to be far enough from the weld to avoid heat effects, yet close enough to ensure the fastest possible weld purge time. To begin purging, the system is easily inserted into the pipe's bore, with a luminous strip aiding in precise centering to the weld gap. Once the gas flow is initiated, the dams inflate, and upon reaching a pre-set pressure, a valve gently releases inert gas into the weld chamber. This controlled release purges the interspace without turbulence, effectively removing oxygen through integral exhaust tubes within the bags. This process enables welders to achieve an even, oxidation-free penetration weld bead, crucial for high-quality results. For optimal performance, the system is compatible with PPM’s oxygen monitors, which indicate when the required low oxygen levels have been reached, signaling that welding can commence. After welding, the dams are quickly deflated by simply disconnecting the purge gas feed, allowing for easy withdrawal of the system. A key design advantage of this purge bag system is its requirement for only one gas connection for both dam inflation and weld purging, simplifying setup and operation. The system comes equipped with versatile fittings, including an International 21 KA series male connector and an Americas ¼" (0.25") NPT male connector, ensuring broad compatibility. Larger sizes and custom solutions are available upon request, offering a 35 mm / 1.37" expansion range to accommodate various pipe dimensions.
