GAWDA New York-New Jersey Regional Draws Record Attendance
Atlantic City, New Jersey—May 26th, 2011: A record turnout and picture perfect weather brought a smile to the face of GAWDA President Lloyd Robinson as he hosted the 2011 GAWDA New York-New Jersey Regional Meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “This is the largest turnout we’ve ever had for this regional,” Robinson beamed commenting on the 80 golfers and 125 total attendees.
The annual event combined a day of golf at the Links at Brigantine Beach followed by an evening reception and next morning breakfast and business meeting at the Trump Taj Mahal.
During the business meeting, Robinson highlighted the benefits of GAWDA membership, discussed upcoming meetings and introduced new initiatives that are springing from the synergy between GAWDA and the American Welding Society. He presented a video on “American Welding Online”, AWS’ web based training, which includes seminars and testing for Certified Welding Sales Representatives.
Terry Hall of Linde Group did a presentation on the “Global Gas Perspective” including prospects for growing gas sales over the next five years. Eric Laubach of Direct Wire and Cable led a panel discussing commodity prices and how they will affect the welding supply market. The panel included Jim Herring of Saf-T-Cart and Bill Greiner of Merrill Lynch.
Robinson thanked all of the attendees and stressed the importance of both using all of GAWDA’s resources and participating in the organization’s committees and activities.
GAWDA President Lloyd Robinson instructed golfers on the format for play at the New York-New Jersey Regional Meeting at the Links at Brigantine Beach. Recalling last year’s “extended play”, he told them, “The format for today is no format. Play fast! Play your ball, play your partner’s ball, play the ball of the people behind you and the ball of the people in front of you. Just play fast!”
